BDR Prep

BDR Prep is a two-day RAWHYDE training weekend built for riders preparing to take on a Backcountry Discovery Route. This curriculum combines practical classroom instruction with real-world riding scenarios designed around the specific BDR you intend to ride.

We’ll cover GPS familiarity, route planning, emergency communication, tools, packing strategy, time-of-year considerations, fuel and water planning, trailside problem solving, and how to fix a flat tire in the field. On the bike, you’ll work through the terrain and challenges you’re most likely to encounter on your route, including rocks, sand, climbs, descents, ruts, water crossings, and loaded-bike handling.

This is not a generic off-road class. It is a focused preparation weekend designed to help you understand the logistics, equipment, riding skills, and decision-making required for a successful BDR.

Each student will also receive a free Butler Motorcycle Map for the BDR they plan to ride. Show up with a route in mind. Leave ready to ride it.
